We are grieved to note that the death of Mrs. Betsy Baggett, which occurred on the 9th at the home of her son, Mr. N. Granberry Baggett. She was ninety-five years of age and had been an invalid for many years. Her husband, Nicholas Baggett, was a pioneer citizen of this county, having preceded her to the great beyound years ago. He was a soldier in the Indian Wars, parcipitated during the early settlement of this gulf coast country. Mrs. Baggett joined the Missionary Baptist Church seveny-two year ago at Catawba Springs and was baptized by the Rev. Cater Hawthorne. She was probably the oldet church member at the tiume of her death in Alabama. Her body was laid to rest Tuesday afternoon at four o'clock in the Weaver Cemetery, six miles north of Brewton, on the Bellville road, the funeral service being conducted by Rev. Alex Burch. There are left to mourn her death several sons and a large number of relatives who have the sympathy of everyone in their bereavement. |
