River Clywedog
A favourite walk of Lady Bagot of
Pool Park was from Bontuchel to Rhewl along the shady path on the craggy
banks of the Clywedog and went over the bridge at Rhydycilgwin. One writer
tells us, "This glen is a bit of wild scenery seldom equalled, forcibly
reminding the tourist of Dovedale, but with a vastly more pictureque landscape
bounding on the horison," and another says, "Beautiful to extreme and surpasses
Bettws-y-Coed, or any other place for rustic scenery". Lady Bagot's drive
runs the whole length of this valley. |
