to Lewis Jenkins was proved by the oath of Nicholas Baggett and on mocon
was ordered to be registered.
The Commissioners appointed
to agree with a person for building a new bridge at the place where Lumber
Bridge formerly stood, reported that the bridge was built according to
an agreement and thereupon it was ordered that the Sheriff pay to Thomas
Rouacls the undertaker thereof the sum of £34, which was the sum
agreed for.

I will and bequeath unto my dearly belo[ved wife the use of my] plantation whereon I now do Dwelle [during her life.] [Likewise my Negro] girle Phillis I do leave to her and all her increase, [likewise while my] youngest child comes to twenty years of age. [I likewise give] to my beloved wife all my household goods and [all my stock.]
I give and bequeath to my son Lewis Baggot my plantation whereon I now do live. I likewise do leave my Negro [girl] and all her increase to be divided between my children when the youngest is twenty years of age; but to my son Lewis Baggot I give no part of the said Negro or Negroes.
I do leave my wife Martha Baggot and my brother Abraham Baggott executors to my will. In witness whereof I have here unto set my hand this the 28th day of December in the year of our Lord 1761.

The Deposition of Benjamin Wynns, late Deputy surveyor of Bertie County, being of full age and duly sworn to the first Interrogatory.
He was appointed Deputy Surveyor by Mr. George Gould and had a Commission from him, said George Gould, for said office of Deputy Surveyor bearing date some time before the year 1745, by virtue of which said Commission and by order of the said George Gould, he surveyed lands in the Counties of Bertie and Northampton from the date of said Commission to some time in the year 1746.
Said Deponent to the second interrogatory says that during the time he surveyed land by virtue of the above said Commission, he made Twenty Three surveys. He had Warrants for all or most of them, whether they were regularly issued or whether they were audited, and their dates he cannot tell, whether the returns were all Pursuant to the warrants he knows not; the date of Warrants he has forgot.
Said Deponent to the third interrogatory says that he has seen a Patent dated the sixth day of April, 1745, to which a Platt and Certificate was annexed dated the twenty second day of August, 1745, which Granted a patent to Nicholas Baggot Land containing Four hundred and seventy acres, which Land is in Northampton County, which said Land he surveyed at the time that the said Certificate bears date and the said Deponent further declares he has also seen one other Patent granted to Benjamin Hollyman for two hundred and fifty three acres bearing date the 20th day of April, 1745, and dated the certificate thereof on the same day he surveyed the Land and not sooner, and that he believes the said Certificate to be his proper handwriting.

of Great Britain to be paid to said James Wood, Jr. and Isaac Wood upon
demand with lawful interest from the date hereof.
The condition of the above obligation is such that the above named Elizabeth Baggett and Nicholas Baggett, at the decease of James Wood, Sr., give a good and sufficient discharge to the above named James Wood, Jr. and Isaac Wood for the said Elizabeth Baggett full satisfaction of her right of dower of the said James Wood, Sr. estate; she having a joynture settled on her in satisfaction thereof before the day of marriage.

County who think that notwithstanding the said county was divided the last
assembly, yet the inhabitants labour under the greatest hardships by reason
of great distance from the court house; the said county being ninety miles
in length and thirty-eight in breadth and the River running through near
the middle, which seldom can be crossed without expense of ferriages and
sometimes not at all passable; pray to have the county divided into two
counties with the Peedee River the dividing line. Signers include (in the

deed of gift to his son, Joel Herring of same, 15 March 1783, for love,
good will and affection the 280 acre plantation whereon he now lives on
the north bank of Nuse River at a certain place called Upper Bogue, as
by patent granted to said Anthony Herring; also, one Negro woman Phillis
and a boy named Jerre, and his blacksmith tools, after the decease of said
Anthony Herring.

the State and County aforesaid, planter. For penal sum: £100 sterling.
Condition of obligation: To convey . . . to said Abraham Baggett 200 acres
of land . . . lying and being between Thomas Deans land and Silas Pearce's
plantation and . . . Ward's lands on the Three Creeks on or before the
1st day of January next ensuing the date hereof. Witnesses: Jesse Baggett
and Edward Roe. Signed: Dickson Pearce and Silas Pearce. Proved by Jesse
Baggett on 2 January 1792.

£40 sterling money, a certain parcel of land containing 200 acres,
more or less, including the plantation whereon the said Abraham Baggett
now lives, the same part of a tract of 300 acres originally granted to
the said Dickson Pearce by his Excellence Charles Pincknet, Esq., Governor,
grant bearing the date of 5 February 1787. Situated in the District of
Cheraw on the north-east side of the great Pee Dee on the south side of
Crooked Creek near the Beauty Spot . . . the part con-veyed to said Abraham
Baggett being the upper part of the said tract and the part including the
said Baggett's plantation whereon he now lives . . . the same being 200
acres, more or less. Witness: Simeon Bethea and Isaac Sumrall. Proved by
Simeon Bethea before William Easterling, Justice, 5 January 1792. Recorded
1792.
